Dr. X. Mazibuko (Ph.D.) is a highly accomplished and dually qualified speech therapist and audiologist, having graduated with her Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral degrees from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She began her illustrious career at Ngwelezane Hospital in 2000, where she gained invaluable experience working with diverse communities across Zululand. Her tenure at Zululand Remedial School, where she dedicated seven years, inspired her doctoral research in learning disabilities.
For the past fourteen years, Dr. Mazibuko has excelled in private practice, focusing on both acute and chronic rehabilitation of speech, language, and hearing disorders in children and adults.
As a speech therapist, she is proficient in:
Specialized feeding and swallowing techniques
Speech and language development
Learning disabilities
Aphasia (stroke) treatment
Voice rehabilitation
As an audiologist, Dr. Mazibuko has invested in state-of-the-art equipment, including:
Diagnostic assessments for infants (Auditory Brainstem Response tests)
Assessments for malingering/non-compliant patients (Auditory steady State Response Test)
Comprehensive hearing tests
Hearing aid evaluations and fittings
The first Video-Nystagmography system in Zululand for diagnosing vertigo and rehabilitating patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo/dizziness
Dr. Mazibuko is a firm advocate of research-based therapy and is committed to serving rural communities in northern Zululand. She is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of Black African professionals, having hired two young graduates every two years for the past five years.
Additionally, Dr. Mazibuko has served as an Ethics Officer and Vice President of the council of her national professional organization, the South African Speech Language Hearing Association.
